Limited Run Games has announced that Gex Trilogy will launch from Summer 2025 (or Winter 2025 in the Southern Hemisphere) on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Alongside the announcement, the publisher has released the first trailer showcasing the return of the wise-cracking gecko’s classic adventures, remastered for modern platforms.
Powered by Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine, Gex Trilogy brings together three classics titles from the 90s by Crystal Dynamics — Gex, Gex: Enter the Gecko, and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko with updated visuals, improved controls, and added support for trophies and achievements. The Carbon Engine has been developed to recreate classic games through emulation, aiming to offer an experience that remains faithful to the originals.
Additional features include rewind and save state options across all three titles, allowing players to easily recover from platforming mistakes… should you wish to. Both Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko now support widescreen display, while fans can also explore extra content such as a music player featuring tracks from each game, a media viewer with promotional materials and artwork, and a new behind-the-scenes interview with Dana Gould, the original voice of Gex in the US.
Each title in the collection offers its own take on platforming gameplay, aiming to not just be the same game rehashed multiple times:
Gex introduces players to the Media Dimension, where Gex must navigate through worlds inspired by television and film to find a way home.
Gex: Enter the Gecko transitions into 3D, adding larger levels, a range of new moves, and themed costumes.
Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko expands the experience with unique character mechanics, over 25 disguises, and unlockable secret playable characters.
