HoYoverse has confirmed that Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1, titled “Light Slips the Gate, Shadow Greets the Throne,” will officially launch on 26 February 2025. This update continues the ongoing Flame-Chase Journey, introducing new storylines, playable characters, and features that further expand the game’s universe. Players will embark on new adventures, facing both the dangers of the black tide and the emergence of shadowy foes seeking to claim powerful relics.
Following the reclamation of Nikador’s Coreflame in the previous chapter, the Flame-Chase Journey remains a race against time. The Trailblazer, now assuming the role of a messenger, must travel to a newly introduced location, the Grove of Epiphany. This revered city-state, dedicated to Cerces, the Reason Titan, serves as a centre of knowledge and research in Amphoreus, contributing significantly to studies on the black tide and Titans. Cerces, much like Kephale, has historically been a benevolent figure toward humanity, shaping the Grove into a sanctuary of wisdom, where scholars and seekers of knowledge could study and expand their understanding of the world. However, this academic stronghold has now fallen under siege from the black tide, throwing it into chaos. Amid the devastation, a mysterious adversary has surfaced with the intent to seize Cerces’ Coreflame. Players must rise to the challenge, rescuing survivors, investigating the disaster’s origins, and reclaiming the Coreflame to restore hope to Okhema.
As part of this version update, the story will also explore another key location, the Abyss of Fate, previously known as Janusopolis. Players will be able to visit this region in its “Day State” and gradually uncover long-buried secrets from the Era Chrysea. This journey will also provide deeper insight into Tribbie, one of the latest playable characters, and her mysterious past.
Two new 5-star playable characters will be introduced in this update. Tribbie, a Quantum character following the Path of Harmony, is the first demigod of Amphoreus and the Holy Maiden of Janusopolis. She was given the prophecy of Deliverance by Kephale and sought to spread it across Amphoreus using the “Century Gate,” transforming herself into thousands of Messengers in the process. In battle, Tribbie excels at supporting her teammates by deploying a special zone where enemies take increased damage. Whenever an enemy within this zone is attacked, she delivers additional damage to the opponent with the highest HP. She also has a high frequency of triggering Follow-up Attacks, allowing her team to finish battles more efficiently. Her abilities make her a valuable asset in combat, increasing the overall damage output of her team.
The second new character, Mydei, is an Imaginary character following the Path of Destruction. As the crown prince of Castrum Kremnos, he is a warrior of formidable strength who wields his undying nature as a key aspect of his combat strategy. Mydei possesses an exceptionally high Max HP, which he consumes to charge into battle, entering an enhanced form. While in this state, he automatically strikes enemies during his turn, delivering amplified damage and showcasing his prowess as the leader of his people.
In addition to these new characters, two previously introduced 5-star characters, Yunli and Huohuo, will make their return in Version 3.1. Yunli will be featured in the first half of the update’s warp event, while Huohuo will be available in the second half.
This update will also bring a variety of new gameplay experiences and events. A key addition is the latest season of Divergent Universe, which introduces a research topic focusing on Amphoreus. This event incorporates an innovative “Day and Night System,” where combat will alternate between different time states. Each state provides unique combat enhancements, while transitions between them trigger additional effects. The Day and Night System is closely tied to the lore of the Titans and the Chrysos Heirs, adding strategic depth to battles and enriching the narrative experience. Another event featured in this update is The Awooo Firm, where players will take on the role of a manager overseeing the development of a chimera squad in Okhema. By providing guidance and support, players will help the squad rise to prominence and become the strongest team in the region.
