PUBG Mobile and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim Collide in Limited-Time Collaboration

PUBG Mobile has announced a partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures to mark the upcoming theatrical release of The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. This collaboration merges the battle royale gameplay of PUBG Mobile with Middle-earth’s legendary lore, offering players exclusive events, challenges, and in-game items inspired by the epic setting.

Running until 7 January, the Allies of the Realm event invites players to defend the Hornburg fortress by completing daily challenges. Participants can choose between Normal and Elite challenges, with successful completions earning points toward in-game rewards. Elite challenges offer greater rewards, encouraging players to rise to the occasion and celebrate the resilience and honour of Middle-earth’s defenders.

As part of the collaboration, players can claim items inspired by mythical tales, such as the Skadiwynn Sentinel character set, the Gungnir M24 sniper rifle skin, and the Gjallarhorn Double-Barreled Shotgun skin.

The animated film, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, takes place 183 years before the events of the original trilogy, focusing on Helm Hammerhand, King of Rohan. As his people face an attack led by Wulf, a vengeful Dunlending lord, Helm must lead a desperate defence of the Hornburg fortress, later known as Helm’s Deep. Amid the siege, his daughter Héra must rise to the challenge of leading the resistance against an overwhelming enemy.

Anthony Crouts, Senior Director of Marketing for PUBG Mobile, expressed excitement about the partnership:

We strive to bring immersive content that complements the excitement PUBG MOBILE players have come to expect. By blending the lore of The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim with the winner-takes-all action of PUBG MOBILE, we’re giving fans the best of both worlds. We can’t wait to transport players back to Middle-earth with our lore-inspired in-game challenges and skins.

Cameron Curtis, Executive Vice President of Global Digital Marketing at Warner Bros. Pictures, also added:

Our partnership with PUBG MOBILE brings an exciting new dimension to our theatrical campaign for The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, merging the worlds of immersive gameplay and movie storytelling to bring richer experiences to key audiences.
