Seeking to become ATLUS’ first ever, full-scale fantasy RPG, Sega and their ATLUS brand were in attendance at the recent Xbox Game Showcase to announce that development is underway on a new IP titled Metaphor: ReFantazio. The game features direction by Katsura Hashino, character designs by Shigenori Soejima and musical compositions by Shoji Meguro – all three of whom were key in more recent Persona games.
Write your destiny and rise above fear as you step into a fantasy world, unlike anything you’ve seen before. Fraught with unsettling mystery, the kingdom stands on a precipice. Now, you must embark on a journey, overcoming obstacles and forging bonds with friends.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is expected to release sometime in 2024. As with other ATLUS games during the Xbox Game Showcase, this title is only confirmed for release on the Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC as of writing. But there is past precedent to indicate that a release will also be made on PlayStation consoles.
