Reel Fishing: Days of Summer has cast a line on Nintendo Switch 2. Natsume has released the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of its fishing adventure worldwide, adding a new Ice Fishing stage, mouse controls and extra story content, along with a range of technical improvements.
The new edition introduces the Ice Fishing stage with new fishing gear, and mouse controls offer another way to reel in a catch. Additional story content and requests have also been added. On the technical side, the Switch 2 hardware delivers sharper visuals and smoother gameplay, while loading times when travelling between fishing areas are more than twice as fast.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition costs $39.99 USD. Players who already own the Nintendo Switch version can upgrade to the new features with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack for $10.00 USD.
Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO of Natsume Inc., spoke about bringing the latest entry in the long-running series to the new console:
“We’re excited to bring Reel Fishing: Days of Summer to the Nintendo Switch 2, giving players an even better way to enjoy this latest adventure in our long-running fishing series, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. With enhanced performance, new ice fishing gameplay and intuitive mouse controls, this edition builds on the original experience while offering new ways to explore, fish and enjoy the story. We’re proud of the Reel Fishing series legacy and hope both longtime fans and new players alike will enjoy this special fishing adventure!”
Reel Fishing: Days of Summer follows three good friends on one final fishing trip together at the end of summer, though their fishing spots may be hiding more than they first appear. Players can catch more than 40 species of fish across 14 locations and craft over 50 types of tackle to go after the rarest catches. The three main characters each have their own personalities and abilities and can be developed over time, and caught fish can be displayed in an aquarium. Alongside the fishing, the game includes a story to follow as well as RPG elements such as character growth and quests.
