RuneScape’s 20th Anniversary Marked By Year Long ‘Once Upon a Time’ Story Event

It is hard to believe that 20 years have passed since RuneScape first appeared to online audiences…

Setting the tone for RuneScape’s 20th Anniversary celebrations, Jagex has announced ‘Once Upon a Time’. This is designed to be a yearlong storyline event split across multiple parts, the first of which went live earlier today. The first chapter is titled ‘Foreshadowing’.

In Once Upon A Time: Foreshadowing, players will meet both allies and antagonists who will establish the story’s themes and plot. Players will encounter Relomia, emissary of the now deceased Sliske, as she attempts to find her place in a world without her idol and long-time players will recognise a few familiar faces as her adventure unfolds.

Completing Foreshadowing rewards players with a new kind of hat called ‘Relomia’s Party Hat’, paying tribute to the beloved and much sought-after party hat.

A range of 20th Anniversary Festivities will be held across RuneScape and the legacy Old School Runescape, which can be accessed by clicking HERE. In its history, more than 300 million player accounts have been created. Although I never really got too deep into the game, it maintained an active playerbase when I was in primary and middle school, and still has a loyal fanbase to date.
