One of the worst kept secrets of 2020 given it was leaked months ago to a select handful of people; Square Enix has finally published the demo for Final Fantasy VII Remake – the long-awaited remake of arguably the most popular game in the Final Fantasy franchise. Available globally on the PlayStation Store exclusively for the PlayStation 4, this is not one of those small demos where you experience the first five minutes of the game and a couple of battles. Instead, it covers the game’s full opening chapter, including the Mako Reactor 1 bombing mission.
Those who download the demo before 11 May 2020 will be eligible to receive an exclusive PlayStation 4 theme when the full version launches next month. It is not clear at this time if your progress will transfer over between demo and full versions. However, this is a standard function for any RPG demo nowadays.

Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released on 10 April 2020 exclusively for the PlayStation 4. While you can pick up a port of the original 1997 PlayStation 1 version on most consoles nowadays, this is the first time the RPG has been remade for current generation hardware.
Final Fantasy VII Remake will see players return to a world where the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation, controls the planet’s very life force. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to an anti-Shinra organisation calling themselves Avalanche.
