Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.2: Echoes of a Fallen Star Previewed with New Trailer

Providing us with our closest look at Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.2: Echoes of a Fallen Star yet, developer/publisher Square Enix have shared their trailer for the upcoming update. Providing a sneak peek at a little bit of everything on offer this patch, it previews the storyline additions, the new trial and dungeon, the next set of four Eden raids and more.

This is due to be a heavily narrative-driven update given the MSQ Update, Eden’s Verse, Trials and Resistance Weapon Quests will all have their own ongoing stories featuring past, present and new characters in the Final Fantasy XIV Online storyline.

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.2: Echoes of a Fallen Star is due to go live on 17 February 2020. While some updates will be accessible to all players, a majority of the major inclusions will require ownership of the Shadowbringers expansion released mid-2019. Some of the main features include:

Additions to the Main Story Quest

With Eulmore on the path to a brigher tomorrow, the Scions await such time as the Exarch might return them home. Not in idleness, however – for when has any world been content to grant its heroes respite?

Four New Edenscape Challenges in Eden’s Verse

Having taken control of the gargantuan sin eater known as Eden, Ryne continues her quest to restore the dormant elements of The Empty, with Urianger, Thancred, and the Warrior of Darkness by her side every step of the way. Yet the awakening of an enigmatic young woman may put the mission in jeopardy. Will this erstwhile foe continue to pose a threat, or is there more to her heart than darkness?

It has been confirmed that Normal/Savage Edenscape variants of ARR Primals Garuda,Ramuh and Ifrit will be on offer. This is in addition to a further fourth battle against a yet-to-be-confirmed boss.

Continuation of Chronicles of a New Era – The Sorrow of Werlyt

The Garlean Empire seeks to break the stalemate with Eorzean forces by unleashing the culmination of its twisted experimentation─a brutal warmachina that exists only to destroy. On both sides of the battlefield, shadows of the past loom large as the decisive clash draws ever closer

Cinder Drift – New Trial Featuring Ruby Weapon

Clad in crimson and armed to the teeth, the Ruby Weapon represents the latest advances in Garlean military technology. But what dark depths has the Empire plumbed to obtain such power?

While unlikely to maintain its “superboss” status from Final Fantasy VII, Ruby Weapon is a returning boss from the broader Final Fantasy franchise albeit with a new backstory.

Resistance Weapon Quests – Save the Queen: Blades of Gunnhildr

For years, Bozja─homeland of the Hrothgar─has remained at the mercy of Garlean rulers. But the Empire has fallen into disarray, and the people of Doma and Ala Mhigo have risen up to challenge their authority. The Bozjans, while heartened at this news, yet lack the means to join the rebellion. To that end, they seek a standard under which their people may gather. A weapon of legend…
