Following their release of Kingdom Hearts III earlier this year, Square Enix have continued development on their RPG series through a series of planned downloadable content. This will see players dive back into the journey with Sora and his friends, continuing the story from where it concluded. It was today confirmed that the first DLC chapter titled Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind will be made available on the PlayStation 4 from 23 January 2020 with a month of exclusivity – before being offered on the Xbox One from 25 February 2020.
Re Mind provides a new playable episode as Sora embarks on an adventure to make his way back to his friends following the events of Kingdom Hearts III, and on the way discovers new truths. This chapter will see characters from the Final Fantasy series appear in it, following their omission from the main game. In the release date trailer below, they confirm that Aerith from Final Fantasy VII will make an appearance among others.
According to Square Enix, those who purchase the Re Mind DLC “will be able to take on multiple boss battles, a Limitcut and Secret Episode, a new greeting mode, slideshow features and a new “Premium Menu” mode that includes diverse difficulty settings and gameplay challenges.“
Not interested in picking up this DLC? Square Enix also confirmed that a free patch update (Version 1.07) is due to go live in January. This includes a main story update, new abilities and a new form for Sora along with the addition of Keyblades, “Oathkeeper” and “Oblivion”.
