Star Citizen Alpha 3.0 Takes Steps Towards Widespread Availability – Enters Evocati Testing Phase

While the hope that Star Citizen Alpha 3.0 becoming available around Christmas 2016 is but a distant memory now, video game developer Cloud Imperium Games have recently taken their most recent step towards offering their many backers the chance to experience the next major milestone in the space sim’s development.

Cloud Imperium Games have rolled out the latest update to their Evocati Testers, a very select group of backers under an NDA who have been acknowledged as effective testers. Once this phase is complete (after a currently indeterminate amount of time), it is expected the version will be rolled out to various testers in waves as part of a PTU test, followed by public release.

Following the developer’s 2015 release of Alpha 2.0 which saw players go from the confines of a few dedicated areas to the much larger Crusader region of the Stanton System, Alpha 3.0 is expected to give players even more freedom to explore whats in store for the future – even if that future may be years away yet.

In addition to offering many flyable ships and other vehicles as has been the norm with many upgrades from Cloud Imperium Games, Alpha 3.0 is also set to feature many new game systems, planetside landing/gameplay, NPCs, and more. You can read more about what is currently in the works for both Alpha 3.0 and future updates in CIG’s schedule report.

Star Citizen is currently in an extended crowdfunding phase, with Cloud Imperium Games having raised $160.9 million USD as of writing. As with any crowdfunding campaign, please take the risk of delays and/or cancellation into consideration before pledging.
