The RPG Maker franchise has officially been available on the PC in western markets for many years, kudos to Degica. Those interested in game development have not only been able to grab newer titles such as RPG Maker XP, RPG Maker VX Ace and RPG Maker MV, but also older instalments from much earlier in its history. But in recent years, several Nintendo DS and 3DS versions have also been brought onto the Japanese market, which until now have not be available for purchase internationally.
During their annual press conference this weekend, Nippon Ichi Software America confirmed they would be releasing the latest 3DS RPG Maker title – RPG Maker Fes – in western markets later this year. While no exact release date has been announced just yet, they are looking at a “Summer 2017” release.
RPG Maker Fes will be released in North America and PAL regions both physically and digitally. The title will also come with English, French, German, Italian and Spanish in-game text.
Like other titles in the series, RPG Maker Fes is designed to allow pretty much anyone with time and a vision to develop their own RPG – without needing to know much about programming. Instead of pouring over a lot of code, you can spend the time using the games user interface to customise the characters, stories, combat, maps and more. Thanks to the free RPG Maker Player app to be released alongside RPG Maker Fes, you will be able to share your creations with other players.
Having covered and really enjoyed the PC RPG Maker games, I personally look forward to seeing what this instalment has to offer.
