For more than half a decade now, video game retailer EB Games have hosted their annual EB Games Expo. While originating at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in Queensland, they quickly moved the event to the Sydney Olympic Park in New South Wales – where it has remains since. As this is a consumer convention rather than something aimed more exclusively at media guests, there are set to be a large number of games either previewed or playable on the show floor – to match the large number of people likely to walk through the convention over the three days. With only weeks until the 2016 festivities begin, the company have confirmed what you will be able to try out and see from Friday September 30th until Sunday October 2nd.
On the show floor this year from Bethesda Softworks is Dishonored 2, which will be playable before launch. Ubisoft will also be bringing a number of games to the show floor as playable demos, including For Honor, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, Steep and Just Dance 2017. Even if you are not interested in the game itself, it is occasionally fun to just walk past the Ubisoft booth and watch people participate in dance offs. Attendees will also be able to experience both Watch_Dogs 2 and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands in some shape or form. Finally from 2K Games is WWE 2K17. These are but some of the games which will can be experienced from the end of this month.
There are also a number of events, which are bound to appeal to different interests. Mountain Dew for example will be hosting Drone Hunting battles, with “Australia’s best drone pilots” testing their skills in a specially designed fans. Attendees can also get in on the action and compete against professionals in a drone vs. laser battle. Those more into competitive gaming can watch the Counter Strike: Global Offensive tournament, or take part in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Melee tournaments. These are but some of the events taking place.
It has also been announced that Head of Xbox Phil Spencer will be attending the EB Games Expo for his first Australian appearance, and will be delivering his only keynote speech in the country.
