Nintendo are celebrating the 30th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series in a number of ways. One of the smaller ways they will be doing this is through the release of several new amiibo figures from December 3rd 2016.
The company will be releasing four new amiibo’s on this date, taking us through a few key games in the franchise’s history. First off will be the 8-bit Link, marking the protagonist’s first appearance on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986. The second is based on arguably the most iconic Legend of Zelda game – The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64. You will be able to pick up an amiibo figure featuring adult link playing his ocarina. Finally, Nintendo will also be offering figures based on Toon Link and Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, which was first released on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2003.
These figures will have similar functionality to the pre-existing Link, Toon Link and Zelda amiibos, which were released as part of the Super Smash Bros Collection. However, these will also have special functionality in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, when it launches next year.
