2013 was the year of new consoles, and in terms of the PlayStation 4, the only way to realistically nab yourself one that year was to pre-order months in advance. While availability is no longer an issue in 2016, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s current generation gaming platform still continues to go strong. But just how strong you might wonder?
In a recent announcement, Sony Interactive Entertainment have confirmed that they’ve cumulatively sold through more than 40 million units to consumers worldwide as of May 22nd 2016. This is complemented by software sales for the console, with more than 270.9 million copies sold in retail stores globally and through digital downloads on the PlayStation Store as of May 22nd 2016.
