ATLUS USA sure like to spend the time introducing players to each main character in almost every game they publish, and their upcoming release of Vanillaware’s Odin Sphere Leifthrasir is no exception. While not a new character, given that Odin Sphere is a PlayStation 2 classic, they have nevertheless released a new trailer and screenshot batch featuring Valkyrie Princess of Ragnanival Gwendolyn.
Though Gwendolyn is the daughter of the fearsome Demon Lord Odin and a child of the cold north, she is a sweet and compassionate young woman. All she wishes to do is protect her home and earn her father’s love, but destiny decides to interfere with that ambitious plan.
After the death of her older sister Griselda, Gwendolyn is bestowed the powerful Psypher Spear. With the spear and her esteemed Valkyrie training, Gwendolyn is a force of righteous fury — from the ground or sky, she’ll pierce, slash, and thrust enemies with unmatchable grace and precision.
The addition of skill trees in Odin Sphere Leifthrasir makes Gwendolyn an even more powerful and dynamic warrior. Since she’s from the North, she has many useful ice skills such as Pain Feather (an evasive maneuver that leaves a trail of feathers which freeze enemies) and the deadly Icicle Wave attack. Should ice not be of much interest to you, she can also summon a storm of spears that follows her with the Comer Spear skill. She also has access to an ultimate skill, which sumons Gungnir — the “All-Piercing God Spear”.
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir will be available in both North America and PAL regions in June 2016. The game will be available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
