Star Citizen Version 2.3 Goes Live, MISC Starfarer Receives Significant Price Increase

Following a week or so on the PTU test servers, Cloud Imperium Games have sent Version 2.3 of Star Citizen to the game’s live servers. This means that every backer can now download the update and enjoy all the new features it has to offer. These features include the Starfarer Base becoming Hangar-ready (Which is currently the game’s largest ship by a sizable margin), the Khartu-al becoming flight-ready, the introduction of the “Power Plants” component class, EVA improvements and a plethora of other new additions / improvements made across the game’s various systems. For a full patch notes, visit the official Roberts Space Industries website.

One of the big additions to Version 2.3 is the MISC Starfarer becoming Hangar-Ready. This refuel/transport vessel now stands at 100 metres in length (the largest ship to date) spaced out over multiple levels, boasts a cargo capacity of 3,321 units and packs some punch with 2x S5 unmanned turrets, 2x S4 manned turrets and a S5 manned turret. This is one hell of a ship, and I am personally in the middle of updating my client so I can check out this beast for myself.

But with the scope of this ship changing… some pricing changes have been made. While the ship has been paraded recently with a nice trailer (above), a tie-in online magazine and even a ship map (the latter two can be viewed HERE), these do little to make the price jump in the ship less noticeable. Previously one could pick up the MISC Starfarer for around $195 USD. The ship is now priced at a whopping $300 USD due to “changes in the design”. This puts it around par with ships including the limited Scythe ($300), Vanguard Harbringer ($280) and the Orion ($325) – compared to the Hull C ($200) and Aegis Sabre ($170) it once was. According to CIG, the price “will increase again” once it becomes flight ready. This might be disappointing news for some, but great news for others who saved quite a bit on the ship.
