You Can Now Build Your Own Retaliator in Star Citizen – At A Cost

As the $65 million pledge goal for the space-sim, Cloud Imperium Games announced that they would be offering Enhanced Ship Modularity for a number of ships in Star Citizen. At the time they claimed that they were “looking to overhaul any suitable ships (including the Cutlass, Avenger, Retaliator and Redeemer) to allow many modular components to be available as swap-outs”. This means that while you might not be able to greatly customise an Aurora or Mustang, those with some of the bigger, more later-game ships would be able to modify their ship to better suit their needs.

Not only is the Aegis Dynamics Retaliator set to be CIG’s “test case” for a multicrew ship in Arena Commander 2.0, but it is also set to be one of the first to have functioning modular interiors. During their Gamescom 2015 presentation, they have announced the first four Retaliator modules that will be available for purchase – which can be fitted onto one of two modular bays available on the ship (Front and Rear). In addition to buying the “Retaliator Base” for $150.00 USD, for between $25.00 and $75.00 each, you can opt to customise the ship with a Living Module, Torpedo Bay, Cargo Module or a Dropship Module.

Therefore, for an extra charge, you can convert the base Retaliator into something that can serve as a ‘home away from home’, something which can give you an edge in battle or allow you to carry even more goods to-and-from planets. Everything on offer is currently only available as a Concept Sale, which means you will not be able to use these modules immediately after purchasing them.
