Time will tell if The Evil Within manages to provide something fresh to the survival-horror genre, but those not waiting for anyone’s opinions can now pick themselves up a copy from today in North America and PAL regions. An Australian release is set for tomorrow.
The Evil Within seeks to embody the meaning of pure survival horror, through its use of eerie environments, horrifying anxiety and a storyline which will attempt to create an immersive world to help build upon your anxiety level. This game will see you take control of Detective Sabasian Castellanos, who after witnessing the brutal murder of his fellow officers at a crime scene they were investigating, finds himself trapped deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead. Facing surreal and horrific sights, he is left to fight for his survival whilst uncovering why he is in this predicament.
Published by Bethesda Softworks and developed by Tango Gameworks, under the supervision of game designer Shinji Mikami (of Resident Evil acclaim), The Evil Within is now available on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One gaming platfoms.
It was incredibly important to me and the team to bring the Survival Horror genre back to its roots. For us, it was all about creating fear and giving the player the enjoyment of conquering it. Up until now we’ve kept a lot of the game under wraps to avoid spoilers, so it’s very exciting that people are now able to experience the game from beginning to end.
