While Star Citizen has currently managed to amass more than $58 Million in crowdfunding, to date the only modules of the upcoming space-faring / combat simulator available to backers is an early version of Arena Commander mode and the Hangar module with new ship designs being pushed out every couple of months
The real meat of the game will be its Persistent Universe module which is set for release in 2015/2016, and will allow players to take to the stars in search of riches, service and/or bloodshed – in addition to traversing some of the settlements located on planets that scatter the different systems.
During CitizenCon 2014 last weekend, Chris Roberts and other members of the game’s development team at Cloud Imperium Games Austin provided fans with a look at what they expect the Persistent Universe to be. The demo shows the player flying through ship on a Constellation ship which is full of cargo, landing on the planet ArcCorp and then going through the planetary customs/quarantine process.
