Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call – Legacy of Music #2 Trailer

-

With more than 25 years active in the video game market, very few RPG’s can match a level of popularity or success that the Final Fantasy franchise has enjoyed. While it is a tad too early to take a peek at what special project Square Enix have in store for its 30th anniversary, their 25th anniversary project ‘Theatrhythm Final Fantasy‘ on the Nintendo 3DS is set to enjoy a sequel for release on September 18th, 2014.

Boasting more than 200 songs and 60 playable characters, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call is set to deliver many of the series’ greatest musical hits with similar albeit improved rhythm-oriented gameplay mechanics. Having looked at Final Fantasy’s I, II and III in their last video, Square Enix are focusing on the next three (IV, V and VI) in their trailer released earlier today, three games which symbolized the series’ entry into the 16-bit era of gaming with many memorable themes to go along with it. Also highlighted is Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, which to be honest I cannot comment on as I have never had the good fortune to get my hands on a copy of it.

The 16 bit debut of FINAL FANTASY was heralded by FINAL FANTASY IV, which showed to the world that that an RPG could tell a compelling and powerful story. This game and those that followed introduced a host of multi-faceted characters that faced real-world choices and consequences along their journeys. The Active Time Battle system also made its first appearance in this generation, giving a more real-time feel to the combat. Musically, some of the franchise’s most memorable themes made their debut, including Battle on the Big Bridge, which has had many triumphant series returns in a variety of styles.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call is set to be published by the team at Bandai Namco Games Australia in both Australia and New Zealand.
