After a heated legal battle between Bethesda Softworks and Interplay Entertainment over rights to the Fallout franchise and the potential release of an online adaptation for the series, Bethesda Softworks walked away victorious. While this means we most probably won’t see Interplay (The original owners of the franchise) developing any more games for the series, it did allow the company to continue distributing the first three games in the series (Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics) until the end of 2013.
As we are now in 2014 this has lead to online retailers such as Steam and GOG to pull the game off their shelves, leaving some to question if the games will ever be available to purchase again. A representative from Bethesda Softworks recently posted this statement via their official @Bethblog Twitter page with some good news.
We’re working to return classic @Fallout games (1, 2, Tactics) to Steam and will provide an update when they’re ready to go.

It is currently unknown if they are only planning to release it on Steam or will open up the invitation to other channels. Either way, keep an eye out over the coming days and weeks for more news!
Do note that everyone who has already purchased digital rights to either or all of the games will continue to have access to them.
