When the EB Games Expo moved from the Gold Coast to Sydney after the inaugural event in 2011, there was some speculation that the event would jump states every year – given at the time it was pretty much the only gaming convention in the region AND Australia is still a pretty damn big place. Turns out that EB Games have found themselves at home in the Sydney Olympic Park and will continue holding the event in New South Wales at least for 2014.
Event dates are not yet known – however I have some advice for those planning the event:
1. Don’t make it in the final days of school holidays, it is very hard to get a reasonably priced flight out of Sydney when you have crowds of families making their way home.
2. Don’t make it on the same weekend as a sporting grand final – sure you had the International Fleet Review on as well, but making hotel bookings anywhere near the Olympic Park proved to be a real hassle.
Still, neither was more troubling than being on a flight back home surrounded by One Direction fans…. but that was just my really bad luck.
