Pottermore Headed to Playstation Home

The fate on the Playstation Home services remains a mystery when the Playstation 4 launches later this year, but this does not mean that Sony Computer Entertainment are not committed to providing new content for the service…. in-fact they have something magical planned for April 2013! The company have announced that Pottermore (The online service by J.K. Rowling for the Harry Potter franchise) will be headed to Playstation Home.

Pottermore at Playstation Home allows users to interact and essentially step inside a number of localities from the Harry Potter series. While there is no formally announced means yet of walking around Hogwarts at your leisure (Can you imagine the number of room downloads that would result in!?!?!), you will be able to step in upon launch Diagon Alley and board the Hogwarts Express. In these areas you can communicate with friends and play for new mini-games, experience the mayhem of Book Herding, test your knowledge in a Pottermore quiz, collect and share Pottermore trading cards and take part in an illicit Wizard’s duel. Additionally, users will be able to purchase a companion from a selection of 14 owls, cats and toads, and dress their avatar in a wide variety of clothing options, from uniforms and house robes to more casual wizard outfits.

For the complete experience, users will be able to access additional interactive content and spaces by linking their PSN ID with their Pottermore.com account. If this means you will be able to acquire house points or other goodies for the service it has not yet been clarified.

Charlie Redmayne | CEO of Pottermore

Pottermore reaches across multiple digital platforms, and Sony’s partnership has allowed us to forge this exciting connection with PlayStation Home, creating the most immersive experience possible within that space and giving users wonderful new ways to explore locations from the Harry Potter stories

This is not the first Pottermore integrated title for the Playstation 3, with last years release of Wonderbook: Book of Spells featuring (very) limited functionality with the service. My review of this title can be read HERE.
