Nintendo Announce Pokémon X and Pokémon Y for the Nintendo 3DS

-

With a double dosage of Pokemon White and Black, Nintendo have today announced via their Pokemon-themed Nintendo Direct conference that the next two major installments in the Pokemon series (Titled Pokemon X and Pokemon Y) will be released exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS in October 2013 – with hopes of a minimal localization impact for the international release.

As you can see in the Nintendo Direct video above, they plan to make use of the 3DS’s capabilities to bring a whole new visual styling to the series while retaining much of its original charm. In addition, there will be three new starter Pokemon of the usual three elements – Froakie (Water), Chespin (Grass) and Fennekin (Fire).

The question is, aside from the original games the titles have had a legendary Pokemon based off the colour or metal of that respective game – for example with Ruby/Sapphire it was Groudon (Fire) and Kyogre (Water) which reflected the colour of the gems. With them not naming the game after a colour, gem or metal… it leaves the question as to how they will work a legendary Pokemon into each title.
