While we may have had small gaming events in Australia, we haven’t really had any major public event that may be found in other countries. This was at least until last year when EB Games announced that they would be holding an EB Games Expo at the Gold Coast Convention Center, where the general public could go in and check out the latest and upcoming games, as well as take part in a few other events such as cosplay, panels and so forth.
This year the expo is moving to the Sydney Showground and the Sydney Olympic Park from the 5th October to the 7th october, and they hope it will be even bigger and beter than last years successful inaugural event. With an overall exhibition space of double the size (Expo precinct of 25,000 square meters) and even more exhibitors and games on display… it may just be an even bigger heaven for gamers!
More than 30,000 people are expected to attend the EB GAMES EXPO, realising the vision of event organisers when they set out to create the pinnacle of the gaming community in Australia. Fans will be guaranteed the first public access to the hottest upcoming games of 2012, celebrating gaming culture in a dedicated environment. Last year’s event featured incredible live presentations from Playstation, Bethesda, Ubisoft, THQ, EA and more, revealed the most anticipated gaming titles of 2011 including Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Assassins Creed Revelations, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Batman Arkham City, with a keynote address from EA CEO, Peter Moore.

Sydney Showground has a range of venues and spaces, which will allow the event to push both gaming and entertainment boundaries. Already locked into the program is the updated EB Arena Spectacular, with a new stage, freestyle motorcross, live pyro techniques and an array of exciting performers! A new Grand Finale show featuring the EB Expo Choice Awards will allow fans to vote on their favourite games and presentations, and will also feature the COSPLAY finals, whilst a dedicated performance stage has been set aside for the preliminary heats of COSPLAY. An expanded Fanmade exhibition space will feature in the Badgery Pavilion, featuring fan art, E-Sport tournaments, Australian developers and other new exhibitors, and the EB Twilight Spectacular, set down for the Friday and Saturday night, will allow guests to finish off their night with a bang!
