Playstation Home has been around since when the console first began, originally being an upcoming new innovation, to an innovation that was in an endlessly long beta test to something that you either use or you don’t. I am not a big user of Playstation Home, however Sony and other companies have indeed been putting more effort into it then ever before – with a recent Dead Island fighting game where you and other team members and defeat zombies together to my personal favorite, a Bomberman Game.
However Sony have decided to take it to the next level, introducing the new version of PlayStation Home which should be coming to a PlayStation near you.
Visually, Playstation Home is impressive in capturing a sense of realism for the character and environment designs – however it has been a mish-mash of different areas for you to do stuff in connected by menus… and that is pretty much all. This new hub features all new locations such as some that will be mentioned below, but will also feature an activity board, which will consist of quests and activities for the individual and the community to take part in – turning it into what they call, a game of its own. Not much have been revealed on the quests so far but they have included details on a number of the main new areas:
- With a gritty, urban aesthetic reminiscent of a first-person shooter level, the Action District is the perfect destination for gamers looking for action, shooter and horror games.
- Come experience the outside-the-stadium feel of Sportswalk, which features up-to-the-minute major league sports scores, headlines and highlights, and sports-themed games.
- Enter a lush beachfront jungle full of sights to see and adventure-themed games to discover in the Adventure District.
- Pier Park is your destination for carnival, puzzle, outdoor and arcade games, featuring a waterfront boardwalk, Ferris wheel and a fun party zone that is linked to dedicated indie and arcade game spaces.
