My Top 5 Anticipated Games for the Second Half of 2010

-

Evening All,

Since it is late and I cannot be bothered finishing my review on Resonance of Fate (PS3/XBox360) just yet, I have decided to list the 5 games I am looking forward to the most by the years end. To make it on the list, it has to be possible that it will come out this year and I have tried to stray away from series that are obviously going to be good as posted on every other gaming website in the world (Eg. LittleBigPlanet 2). That is not to say that these games will not surpass the games not listed, just that I don’t want to spend a spot on a game that you already know about.

Persona 3 Portable
Playstation Portable

Okay, so it is obvious that I am a big fan of the Persona series, therefore it is evident that this would make my list. I believe it has a street date of early July in the US with no current release date or classifications board submission for Australia (Unless the well reported submission is P3P instead of Persona Portable). So what is going to be different?

  • For the first time, you can make a female lead character. As well, for the female there are new social links added and removed, custom gender for Igor’s assistant and a slightly modified storyline to suit the female role.
  • Persona 4 battle system, meaning that you can control all party members now instead of just the main character, no more throwing down your controller because your AI party members decided to ignore the logical explination to victory!
  • New music tracks for the female lead. So, instead of Mass Destruction as a battle theme, for the female lead it is a new song called Wiping All Out.

Trinity Universe
Playstation 3

I do believe that I have covered this game in previous posts enough for me not to have to describe why this game shall be good.

Super Dimensional Game Neptune
Playstation 3

There isn’t all that much footage on this game available yet, however it has a release date in Japan next month, meaning there is the slightest possibility that it could be coming out late this year or next year over here. So you may be confused by what this game is about? Well, to be honest all I know is that the four main characters are represented by different gaming consoles:

  1. Purple Heart – Sega Neptune
  2. Green Heart – Microsoft XBox
  3. Black Heart – PlayStation 3
  4. White Heart – Nintendo Wii

As well, the other characters in the game will be respective of different game companies and games. Honestly if you search around you might find some good information, all I know is that this is exciting!

Atelier Rorona
Playstation 3

I will be honest, I have an on and off relationship with the Atelier series. I have bought them in the incorrect order (3, 1, 2) and I purchased them at a considerable time period apart, due to interests in other games. That being said, I sat down on my last holidays and played each game a little bit and did really enjoy them, with their clever way of mixing the alchemy system, quest system and RPG system all into one. I shall look forward to seeing what comes out of this game.

Toy Story 3
Playstation 3, Wii, XBox 360

Okay, so this is based off a childrens movie AND movie games have a bad reputation for themselves AND Toy Story 2 on the Nintendo 64 ended up corrupting my memory card BUT I do actually see potential in this game, especially with the Toy Box mode which apparantly allows you to do something like a mini-Little Big Planet and build your own games. As well, the first Toy Story movie was the first movie I ever watched as a child in a cinema, so it is pretty special to me. Hopefully it lives up to my expectations.

+1 Yet to be announced Possibility

Ar Tonelico III
Playstation 3

Okay, so it has been spread around the internet that this could be announced, I am not here to confirm or deny the possibility since hey, I have no idea what is going to be covered in the NISA press event and heck, I am excited to see all the stuff that comes out of it. However it is definitely a game I would like to see out in English, especially with the positive reviews it has been receiving! Unfortunately I cannot comment on the prior games…. none of them made it over here.

Sorry to all the Wii, PC and XBox gamers that might feel a bit shortchanged in this article, there are definately good games coming out on all the consoles. I have a handful of games I intend to get for the Wii the next year as well, however unfortunately since I do not at the moment own an Xbox360, it is hard for me to comment on any games besides multi-platform games.

May the rest of 2010 be plentiful for all gamers!
