This is the second part of my review on the Disgaea Custom Soundtrack Review!

Song 11:  Rock Crystal
In Game:
3
Review: One of the good battle themes of Disgaea 3, I quite like it :), suits the mood of battle and isn’t upbeat, yet not show and melancholic.

Song 12:  Etna Rock
In Game:
2
Review: To be honest, until listening to it again today, I had no idea that [Etna Boogie] and [Etna Rock] were different songs. Anyway, over the two, I prefer this one with it more suitable for the actions of Etna… *Sigh* going to be awhile until I unlock Etna… not that I ever used her much in Disgaea 1 or 2… I don’t really like spear users.

Song 13:  Twinkle Star
In Game:
2
Review: Don’t really remember this song, I am not very keen on it through. Too soft for me.

Song 14:  Disgaea Rhapsody
In Game:
2
Review: I think this is one of the better battle themes used in Disgaea. It incorporates many different tunes throughout it as well as incorporating countless instruments and sound effects. Very well done.

Song 15:  Extreme Outlaw Overlord
In Game:
3
Review: This is the main theme for the school preparation area. It is a good song, but it does get a bit repetitive after hearing the (La~♫ La~♫ Lalalalala~♫’s) for awhile. Still rather good through, as long as you are not overexposed to it.

Song 16:  White Tiger
In Game:
2
Review: This is the theme song of Axel in Disgaea 2. I was never keen on Axel so I didn’t really pay much attention on him throughout the game. Listening to the song, I consider it above average, but nothing special.

Song 17:  Running Fire
In Game:
1
Review: One of the old battle themes. Rather good, especially since it is a very fast paced battle theme.

Song 18:  Dark Whisper
In Game:
1
Review: I personally consider this the worst song on the disk. It was the menu screen song for Disgaea 1, and It was not what I was hoping to be welcomed into the game with. Sorry….

Song 19:  Makai Fugue
In Game:
3
Review: One of the battle or cutscene songs for Disgaea 3. Average.

Song 20:  Demon Academy Alma Master
In Game:
3
Review: One of the more interesting vocal songs from Disgaea I must admit… A bit daunting at first but it turned out to be a pretty good song.

Song 21:  Lord Laharl’s Hymn

In Game: 1
Review: No, this isn’t [Lord Laharl’s…Hymn?]. It is the proper vocal version of the song, it is a very good song… that is all I can say about it!

Other Review Aspects

Cover: I thought the cover was a very well done. Especially how they didn’t focus on just the Disgaea 3 characters but instead focused on the main characters from Disgaea I (Laharl, Flonne & Etna), Disgaea 2 (Adell & Rozalin) and Disgaea 3 (Mao and Beryl)

Packaging: The game came in one of those CD Covers you often find with promotional DVD’s (Not the packaging that you would find on purchased media). It had the fantastic cover on one side and the track listing on the other. No bonus book. There were no evident scratches on the disk.

 Overall Review

  1. Demon Academy: 5
  2. Demon Academy Perspective Student: 4
  3. Tales of Innocent Youth: 3.5
  4. Lord Laharl’s…Hymn?: 2
  5. Galaxy Wars: 2
  6. Planet X: 2
  7. Etna Boogie: 5
  8. Poem of the Vagabond: 4
  9. Sinful Rose: 5
  10. My Comrade: 5
  11. Rock Crystal: 4.5
  12. Etna Rock: 5
  13. Twinkle Star: 1.5
  14. Disgaea Rhapsody: 5
  15. Extreme Outlaw Overlord: 4
  16. White Tiger: 3.5
  17. Running Fire: 4
  18. Dark Whisper: .5
  19. Makai Fugue: 3
  20. Demon Academy Alma Master: 4.5
  21. Lord Laharl’s Hymn: 5
  22. Cover: 4.5
  23. Packaging: 4

 Overall: 3.76 (B+)

Final Word: For a free soundtrack that I wasn’t even expecting, I am very happy with this. While of course, I wouldn’t recommend buying the game just for the soundtrack (Which I would be surprised if anyone did, but each to their own I guess) it is a good little extra that should give you some good listening time, as well as filling up some space on your IPod or alternative.
