With the season almost set to commence its Australian premiere at the Sydney Capitol Theatre from next month, Sister Act the Musical is about to begin touring the country. For those in Brisbane, our chance to see the production locally will commence in February 2024 at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s (QPAC) Lyric Theatre.

Sister Act the Musical will star a number of stage icons in its principal cast, including Casey Donovan as Deloris Van Cartier, alongside Genevieve Lemon and Rhonda Burchmore. The musical, based on the popular film starring Whoopi Goldberg, features original music by Alan Menken, known for his work on Disney’s Aladdin, Enchanted, and The Little Mermaid. The soundtrack includes songs inspired by Motown, soul, and disco, promising an uplifting and joyous experience.
The story of Sister Act the Musical follows disco diva Deloris Van Cartier, whose life changes dramatically when she witnesses a murder. Placed in a convent for her protection, she helps rejuvenate the convent’s choir, assisting her fellow sisters in finding their true voices while rediscovering her own.
This Australian premiere production of Sister Act the Musical is being produced by John Frost for Crossroads Live, who is also working on several ongoing and upcoming musicals including CHICAGO, Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar, Annie and Wicked.
