This November, fans of the celebrated manga collective CLAMP can look forward to two official art books, dubbed KURO and SHIRO, set for release by Yen Press and Kodansha USA Publishing respectively. These art books, created as companions to the recent CLAMP Exhibition at The National Art Center in Tokyo, will feature more than 200 original works displayed during the exhibition, which took place from July to September 2024.
KURO (published by Yen Press) and SHIRO (published by Kodansha) present a collection of full-colour artwork, offering a comprehensive look at over three decades of CLAMP’s creative achievements. The volumes include pieces from series such as RG Veda, Tokyo Babylon, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, among others. Beyond manga and anime, the books also feature rarities including magazine bonuses, video game art, telephone card illustrations, and other official merchandise and communications. Some works were created exclusively for the exhibition and these books.
CLAMP, the all-women creative group founded in the 1980s, is known for producing some of the most enduring manga titles, including Cardcaptor Sakura, CLOVER, Chobits, and xxxHOLiC, all currently available through Kodansha. Yen Press also began re-releasing Tokyo Babylon in 2023. These official art books provide an opportunity for fans and collectors to explore the breadth of CLAMP’s artistic legacy.
