Udon Entertainment, the company behind several artbook, manga and design compendium releases over the past few years have confirmed that they have plans to release a book based on Dark Souls – titled Dark Souls: Design Works.
While I must admit I would have preferred one based on the original Demon’s Souls title by FROM SOFTWARE, Dark Souls is the Playstation 3 / XBox360 / PC title that since its initial release in 2011 has been well received and renown for providing gamers with a high degree of difficulty from start to finish. This October, fans can discover more about the mystic land of Lordran and all the weapons, monsters, undead and environments within this one 128-page book.
Dark Souls: Design Works showcases the grim and haunting artwork behind the game in a full-color hardcover collection, matching the Japanese edition. Featuring key visuals, concept art, character, weapon, and monster designs, and rough sketches, this is a complete picture of the brutal world of Dark Souls. Design Works also includes an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview with game director Hidetaka Miyazaki and many of the game’s artists.
The currently planned retail price is $39.99. Take a look below for six preview pages released by the company:
