Following the broadcast of the Tougen Anki anime’s 24th episode on 26 December, the anime’s production team has officially confirmed that the series will continue. The next installment of the adaptation has been greenlit and is titled TOUGEN ANKI: Nikko Kegon Falls Arc.
The anime adaptation is based on the manga series by Yura Urushibara, which is currently serialized in Weekly Shōnen Champion. The series has more than 5 million copies in circulation. The narrative reimagines the Japanese folktale of Momotaro, focusing on a generational conflict between the descendants of the Momotaro bloodline and the Oni bloodline. The television anime originally began airing in July 2025 with the Kyoto Arc, which was followed by the Nerima Arc in October 2025.
The newly released teaser visual highlights a new character named Hayate Todoroki. He is described as a “Child of Kishin” and an Oni descendant who serves as a central figure in the upcoming narrative arc. Hayate leads the Oni Brigade, an organization that operates independently from the Oni Agency, the group to which the series protagonist Shiki Ichinose belongs. The visual depicts Hayate utilizing his specific fighting technique, the Blood Eclipse Release, amidst swirling winds.
In addition to the visual, the new promotional video provides a recap of events from the previous Kyoto and Nerima arcs. The trailer concludes by revealing Hayate Todoroki’s voice for the first time. The upcoming story is expected to explore the dynamic between Shiki and this new faction leader, questioning whether the newcomer will act as an ally or an enemy to the protagonist.
For those unfamiliar with the premise, the story is set in a world where the bloodlines of “Oni” and “Momotaro” have been passed down through generations. The two factions formed the Oni Agency and the Momotaro Agency, respectively, and have remained in conflict for thousands of years. The protagonist, Shiki Ichinose, discovers his Oni lineage following an attack by the Momotaro faction, setting him on a path to understand his heritage.
