Shiboyugi: Playing Death Games To Put Food On The Table Confirms Worldwide Streaming Details

The creative team for the upcoming anime adaptation of SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table. has released new information on the series’ international distribution. The anime is based on the light novel by Yushi Ukai, and has previously won a number of light novel accolades in Japan.

It has been confirmed that the series will be streamed worldwide simultaneously with its Japanese television broadcast. For international audiences, the distribution is split across several major platforms. Netflix will stream the series globally. Additionally, Crunchyroll has secured rights for North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, and CIS regions. For viewers located in Asia, the series will be available via iQIYI and Muse on YouTube. Specific regional arrangements have also been made, including Aniplus and Laftel in Korea; various platforms such as Twitch, Hami Video, and Bahamut in Taiwan; and Bilibili in Thailand.

Alongside the broadcast news, a new promotional video titled “Ghost House” has been released. This trailer introduces the central premise of the show, which takes place in a twisted world where girls known as “Players” participate in life-threatening games to earn prize money. “Ghost House” arc challenges the characters to escape a House of Death.

The main cast is led by Chiyuki Miura as the protagonist, Yuki. Yuki is pitched as a professional death-game player with striking blue eyes who lacks practical life skills and earns her living solely through these dangerous competitions. Joining Yuki in the “Ghost House” game are five other participants:

  • Momono (Voiced by Rina Kawaguchi): An easygoing character with a relaxed personality who claims to judge restaurants by their appearance.
  • Aoi (Voiced by Rena Motomura): A timid first-time participant who enjoys reading and knitting but dislikes communication.
  • Kinko (Voiced by Inori Minase): A responsible girl raised by a single father who is skilled at accounting but dislikes ambiguity.
  • Kokuto (Voiced by Haruka Sato): A novice with a wandering streak who is efficient at tasks but struggles with money management.
  • Beniya (Voiced by Mutsumi Tamura): A working adult participating for the first time who dislikes medical procedures and bloody movies.

The production is being animated by Studio DEEN under the direction of Souta Ueno. Rintaro Ikeda is handling the series composition, with character designs by Eri Osada. The musical score is composed by Junichi Matsumoto.

Regarding the theme songs, the opening theme has been announced as “¬Ersterbend” (pronounced “Not Ersterbend”). It is an instrumental track composed and arranged by LIN of the group MADKID. The ending theme, titled “Inori”, will be performed by Chiai Fujikawa.
