Pony Canyon has shared a new key visual and announced two additional cast members for the anime adaptation of Aki Akimoto’s rom-com manga Mechanical Marie, ahead of its premiere this October.
The newly released visual (to the left) offers a dynamic look at the series’ central trio – Marie, Arthur, and other key players – seeking to capture the balance of high-stakes action and heartfelt comedy that defines the story.
The two new members of the Japanese voice cast are:

Roy (voiced by Yuuichirou Umehara)
A former close aide to Arthur’s father, Roy plays a pivotal role in Marie’s recruitment as a “mechanical maid.” Though tough and demanding, his stern exterior hides a protective and deeply loyal core.
What do you find appealing about this series?
The charming art style paired with its slapstick comedy is a delightful mix. Every character has something lovable about them. Viewers will likely find themselves rooting for Marie and Arthur as they gradually grow closer despite their awkwardness.
How do you approach playing Roy?
Roy is fiercely loyal to Arthur and has always been his protector. He’s highly competent, but occasionally shows a clumsy side. While he’s generally serious, I’m looking forward to playing up those comedic moments with full energy.

Maynard (voiced by Daishi Kajita)
Arthur’s older stepbrother and a recurring antagonist, Maynard sends a steady stream of assassins after his younger sibling out of jealousy. Despite his antagonistic actions, Kajita portrays him with enthusiasm and affection.
What makes this series stand out to you?
It’s all about the romance between Marie and Arthur! A mechanical maid—pretending?! And it actually works?! You’ll constantly want to know what happens next. Their slightly offbeat dynamic is incredibly sweet and compelling.
How do you feel about voicing Maynard?
Maynard is… very loud and lively. He’s incredibly devoted to his little brother—yes, devoted (and I can’t stress that enough)! I truly love him as a character. I’ll give it my all while imagining the audience’s reactions. I absolutely love this role!
At the centre of Mechanical Marie is a strange but sweet lie: Marie, a stoic and skilled former martial artist, now works undercover as a “mechanical maid” in the household of Arthur, the heir to a powerful conglomerate. Arthur, who has little trust in humans, remains unaware of Marie’s true identity. But her job is far more than household upkeep—she’s also secretly protecting him from the constant assassination attempts sent by those who covet his position.
The tension builds as Arthur, oblivious to her deception, slowly begins to develop feelings for Marie. With every day bringing a new life-or-death encounter, and a new chance for her secret to slip, this unlikely pairing sets the stage for a romcom brimming with close calls and unexpected emotions.
