Set to debut in July 2024 as part of Japan’s Summer 2024 Anime Season, the team behind My Deer Friend Nokotan (しかのこのこのここしたんたん) have shared new assets and casting announcements for the slice-of-life comedy anime. This anime is an adaptation of the original manga series written and illustrated by Oshioshio, which has been actively published since 2019 and is being localised into English by Seven Seas Entertainment.
Second Key Visual
Pictured to the left, the latest key visual released for My Deer Friend Nokotan features the four members of the Deer Club, in addition to the three new student council members who aspire to disband the club. The aim of this visual is to “(capture) the essence of this high school gag anime”.
Second Trailer
The anime’s second preview trailer (PV2) has been published by the creative team, which introduces the student council members, alongside showcasing its opening theme ‘Shikairo Days’, performed by the four voice actors of the members of the Deer Club – Megumi Han, Saki Fujita, Rui Tanabe and Fuka Izumi. The song is being produced by Lantis, and features lyrics written by Kana Yaginuma and composition by Yuki Waga.

Yurika Kubo as Nekoyamada Neko (Neko-chan)
Adorably Clumsy Vice President Neko is the vice president of the student council at Tokyo Metropolitan Hino Minami High School. She plots to disband the Deer Club and tries to uncover Koshitan’s weaknesses but always ends up failing hilariously.
VA Introduction: I’m Yurika Kubo, and I’ll be playing the role of Nekoyamada Neko. When I first heard the title “My Deer Friend Nokotan,” I felt an inexplicable connection to it, so I am truly delighted and honored to be a part of this project. Neko-chan may be small, but she’s a hard worker with a bit of a sharp tongue, yet she’s absolutely lovable! She has a charm that makes you want to cheer for her, so I’ll do my best to make everyone fall in love with her!
Rio Tsuchiya as Tanukikouji Kinu (Tanuki)
Ultra-Negative Secretary Kinu is the secretary of the student council at Tokyo Metropolitan Hino Minami High School. Her kind and serious nature makes her prone to negative thinking. Her specialty dish is egg on rice (with eggshells included).
VA Introduction: I’m Rio Tsuchiya, and I’ll be voicing Tanuki. When I first read the original work, I was pleasantly shocked, thinking, “What is this…?” in the best possible way. During the recording sessions, I often find myself nearly laughing at everyone’s lines. Tanuki is a girl with a negative mindset who easily gets flustered, but I’ll give my all to ensure she stands out amidst the chaos! It’s a work that will make you laugh even when you’re tired, so I hope you enjoy it!
Chinatsu Akasaki as Tsubameya Chiharu (Tsubame)
Passionate Nokotan Fan Chiharu is the treasurer of the student council at Tokyo Metropolitan Hino Minami High School. Though she appears quiet and cool, she’s a dedicated Nokotan fan. She has an older brother who works at a café.
VA Introduction: The deer are in motion! This anime is for those who want to fully feel the essence of deer. It’s not about thinking with your head, but feeling it with your heart… and antlers! My character, Tsubame, may seem poker-faced, but she has a heart full of deer spirit. Why not unleash your inner deer spirit too?
About My Deer Friend Nokotan
Koshi Torako, a high schooler, one day feels something cold hit her face. Looking up, she spots a girl stuck, her antlers tangled in power lines. Helping Shikanoko, antlered and peculiar, turns Torako’s life, a model student by appearance only, upside down. Thus begins a tale of a girl (once a delinquent) and another (a deer?), in this Girl Meets Deer adventure!
