Illumination Pay Homage to 1980s Cartoon in The Super Mario Bros. Movie Superbowl Commercial
Whether you are from the era that The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! first aired in the late 1980s or were like me and saw it in the 90s or even later, 'Do the Mario' performed by Lou Albano is an iconic, meme-worthy theme song that may occupy a little space in your mind even today.... well especially today, with a new 'Plumbing Commercial' promotional trailer released by Illumination for their upcoming film - The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Using the same beat and lyrics, this 30-second clip is completely random, but so gosh darn enjoyable to watch, and fits in well with it being first showcased among many other creative, out-there Superbowl ads. While this has not been officially confirmed, some are saying they may have also brought back Jeannie Elias (the cartoon's voice actor for Princess Peach), which if so, is a nice touch and a great cameo for long-time fans of the cartoon.
