Madman's Anime Festival in Brisbane Cancelled Due to COVID-19 1

Unfortunately, Australian anime publisher Madman Entertainment has announced that they have cancelled their Anime Festival in Brisbane this year. However, they have confirmed that MadFest 2021 is going ahead, and will be making its way to Brisbane next year. This decision was made based on the ongoing COVID-19 scenario and based on advice from the Australian Federal Government.

Pending any later announcements, Anime Festival Melbourne 2020 (August 29-30) and Anime Festival Perth 2020 (October 3-4) is still planned to be going ahead.

You can find a full copy of Madman Entertainment’s statement below:

It is with a heavy heart that we’ve had to cancel Anime Festival in Brisbane for this year.

The health of our fans is of paramount importance. So, following advice from the Federal Government, any non essential gatherings of 500 people or more are to be suspended as a precaution to help minimise the impact and spread of coronavirus.

For those of you that have already purchased tickets to the Brisbane Festival, you should have now received an email regarding refunds, which will be processed over the coming days.

Rest assured, we’re already planning our comeback, with Anime Festival set to return in 2021. Stay tuned!
