In their third Christmas Eve announcement for the upcoming Winter 2020 anime season, Aniplex of America confirmed the acquisition of Uchitama?! Have you seen my Tama?. In this series, viewers will get a glimpse into the lives of a group of cats and dogs inhabiting a quaint neighbourhood on Third Street. Episodes will begin streaming on FunimationNow from 9 January 2020, followed by streams on CrunchyRoll beginning 8 February 2020.
This anime is based on the characters from the “Tama & Friends: Have you Seen My Tama?” series first introduced in 1983 and has been a popular inclusion on stationery and accessories. Created jointly by MAPPA and Lapintrack, this is due to be a new take on a long-established set of characters, the most notable difference being that the characters are taking on human characters. The show is being directed by Kiyoshi Matsuda, with character designs by Mai Otsuka and music from Tom-H@ck.
Uchitama?! Have you seen my Tama? features Soma Saito in the role of Tama, a curious pet cat owned by the Okamoto family and Kensho Ono as Pochi, a skittish white dog from the local tofu store and (breaking stereotypes) Tama’s best friend. Other felines in the series include the tabby cat Tora (voiced by Yusuke Shirai), the prim white cat Momo (Voiced by Kana Hanazawa) and the intelligent but aloof Nora (voiced by Yuki Kaji). The remaining canine cast includes Kuro (voiced by Yuichiro Umehara), the caring Kansai dog Gon (voiced by Wataru Hatano) and the stubborn bulldog Bull (voiced by Tomoaki Maeno).
This looks like a downright adorable series, and one I will definitely be checking out. What’s more, the ending scene differs each episode to reflect a different characters theme song. Expect a variety of song themes to reflect each character’s personality.
About Uchitama?! Have you seen my Tama?
