Aniplex of America to Offer Blu-Ray Box Set for anohana -The Flower We Saw That Day- 1

Years after Nippon Ichi Software America published their own DVD Premium edition set for TV anime anohana -The Flower We Saw That Day-, Aniplex of America came forward at Otakon in Washington, D.C. to announced they will be offering a Complete Blu-ray Box Set for the series.

While anohana was first released as an English-subtitled only anime, Aniplex of America have commissioned a new English dub for the 11-episodes. The English dub features the talent of Xanthe Huynh as Menma, Erica Lindbeck and Anaru, Ray Chase as Yukiatsu, Erica Mendez as Tsuruko, Kaiji Tang as Poppo and Griffith Burns as main protagonist Jintan. The dub itself has been adapted and directed by Patrick Seitz.

I’ve had Anohana on the brain ever since I first saw the sub-only release back in 2012, but the thought of it ever getting dubbed after the fact was such a long-shot, it was basically a dream. The irony isn’t lost on me that one of Anohana’s plot points involves fulfilling a wish from five years ago—and getting to dub it was the fulfillment of my own five-year-old wish.

The Complete Blu-ray Box Set for anohana -The Flower We Saw That Day- won’t be as cheap as other series of the same length, but does come with some goodies. Priced with an SRP of $149.98 USD, this collection comes with:

  • All 11 Episodes across 2 Blu-ray Discs
  • A 60-page “Deluxe Booklet”
  • A “Rigid Box” with packaging illustrated by character designer Masayoshi Tanaka.
  • On-disc extras, including a number of English dub goodies including a blooper reel and audio commentary.

The collection will be available in North America from October 31st 2017. You can read my review of the original English release of anohana HERE.
