Following the release of The Garden of Words in 2013, Japanese anime director Makoto Shinkai has primarily been releasing a number of commercials for different companies, all of which have been artistically stunning and featuring the environment designs he has become renown for. Although we don’t know anything about this new film or even have a title for it, Shinkai is apparently in the middle of working on one.
According to a recent blog post on his website, Shinkai stated that he had been spending New Year’s Eve storyboarding his new project – which he plans to work on during 2015. While the evidence will be in the finished product, he hopes that this will be more beautiful and fun than anything he has made up until now. Given Shinkai’s previous works, that is a very high bar to set himself.
