Gold Coast Film Festival to Close Tomorrow With The Babadook

-

228

On April 3rd, the Gold Coast Film Festival for 2014 launched with the comedy screening of The Grand Budapest Hotel which drew in critical acclaim from not only The Otaku’s Study but almost countless media outlets across Australia. But all good things must come to an end, and tomorrow evening the festival is set to end with the Aussie thriller The Babadook.

A single mother, plagued by the violent death of her husband, battles with her son’s fear of a monster lurking in the house, but soon discovers a sinister presence all around her.

While I would say you have missed out on quite a lot if you decided not to attend any of the film screenings this year, be sure to show your support for a local film festival by attending this, or one of the other screenings held during tomorrow. A list of titles and their times will be available at the bottom of this post. As a hub for anime, indie and mainstream film screenings and premières (Including the 2013 World Première of The Garden of Words by Makoto Shinkai), your support may mean even better things down the track.

Screenings for 13th April 2014

  • Fading Gigolo (11AM)
  • The Monkey King 3D – Da Nao Tian Gong (12:45PM)
  • Escape from Tomorrow (1:30PM)
  • All This Mayhem (3:15PM)
  • The Windmill – Die Windpomb (3:30PM)
  • The Babadook (6PM)
