To mark the US screenings of the third film in the Puella Magi Madoka Magica franchise “Rebellion”, Foneclay have announced that they will be launching a series of smartphone apps under the “Puella Magi Madoka Magica fone” title from the 3rd December 2013. Starting with an app focusing on main character Madoka Kaname, this will allow you to customize your Android Smartphone completely from home screen to the design of tools.
A number of in-series features included in the app are: the ability to watch your soul gem on the home screen sparkle or become cloudy under certain conditions, have the magical girl of your choice greet you and the apparent option to shoot Kyubey with a touch of any button. The app will also come with a Witch Encyclopedia in addition to a Gallery.
There is also an unlockable “Witch Mode” which when certain conditions are met allow you to fight witches – starting with a Witch Kiss appearing on screen. Tapping on it will change the design of your screen from the Normal mode to the Witch mode where you are transferred to a completely different space where you enter into battle with the Witches. In this event, everything on your phone will fall under the control of the witch.
While it isn’t something I would personally consider picking up for my own phone, the Madoka Kaname version is set to launch on the 3rd December 2013 at a not-so cheap price of $12.00 USD.
