Danganronpa: The Animation Acquired by Funimation Entertainment

While we are absolutely no closer to seeing a video game publisher pick up the rights to the two Danganronpa games for the Playstation Portable (or PS Vita if you consider the upcoming HD Collection), at least there is some hope for Danganronpa: The Animation set to air in Japan later this month.

North American anime publisher Funimation Entertainment have confirmed their acquisition of the anime adaptation (Danganronpa: Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei – The Animation) which is being produced by Seiji Kishi who has recently been behind the anime adaptations of both Persona 4 and Devil Survivor 2.

Hope’s Peak Academy is an exclusive private school that only accepts the best of the best. Graduates of this elite – yet enigmatic – institution have the world at their fingertips, but getting a cap and gown is easier said than done. The hallowed halls are ruled by the sadistic administrator Monobear, who declares that the only way to pass the class is by sending a fellow student home in a body bag.

If you can get away with murder, you’ll get your diploma. But if you’re caught red handed, you’ll find yourself on the receiving end of a deadly detention slip!
