NIS America Announce Bunny Drop Released Today

-

NIS America Announce Bunny Drop Released Today 1During its airing in Japan and subsequent simulcasting last year, Bunny Drop (Usagi Drop) received high praise from me, even receiving top spot in my votes for the “AniBloggers Choice Anime Awards 2011”. The series was released in Australia very early this year for which my review can be read HERE and also received praise by earning the top review score for an anime series on The Otaku’s Study… an S.

Now it is time for North America to have their turn at having the series released, with NIS America today announcing that their Premium Edition release of Bunny Drop is now available in the country. The series consists of 11-episodes on 2 Blu-rays and 2-DVD’s and contains a bunch of other goodies including a hard cover artbook detailing Daikichi and Rin’s first year together, 4 bonus mini-episodes and clean opening and endings for each episode.

Daikichi, a 30-year-old bachelor, meets the 6-year-old girl Rin at his grandfather Souichi’s funeral. It is there that Daikichi and his family learn that Rin is Souichi’s direct descendant. When the topic of who would care for her comes up, the family shirks all responsibility of raising this “shameful” child. Reacting emotionally, Daikichi declares his intention to take Rin into his home. This is the story of two very different individuals coming together under one roof and learning what it means to be a family, an experience that teaches Daikichi what it means to be a parent.
