Taking place further in the future than any other installment of the .hack franchise, .hack//The Movie (or .hack//Sekai no Mukou ni) is a 3D animated film that has already been released in cinemas throughout Japan since last month. Namco Bandai recently uploaded this video to their Youtube channel, featuring a short look at the movies introduction, showcasing the new designs, the fact the film is a hybrid of “The World” and “Real-Life” and the appearance of Aura.
The story takes place in 2024, where most youth have spent their lives connected to the internet with new technology, and with The World now being a popular pasttime that is accessible through many different shapes and forms instead of a PC and controller. The main character is Sora Yuuki who has no interest in games however gets drawn to the game by her friends, and as you may expect – gets drawn into the many mysteries and abnormalities within it.
