Bringing the iconic songs of Queen to the stage, complemented by a storyline and what will hopefully be a memorable cast of characters, We Will Rock You is set to begin its latest Australian tour at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre starting April 28th 2016. While the main and ensemble cast for the stage musical was announced last month, the Australian producers have recently highlighted the talent which will be performing as part of the band. Given that this musical presents audiences with such renown songs, it will require impeccable performances from both the cast and band to deliver a magical experience.
The band will be led by musical director Dave Skelton, who also plays Keys 1. On guitars will be James Barber and Simon Croft, with Andrew Swann on drums, Mark Costa on bass, and James Mack on percussion. The band for WE WILL ROCK YOU is an integral part of the show, onstage during the production. Band members must be approved by the members of Queen before they are appointed. Our two guitarists for example, auditioned for Brian and Roger and were cast in the original Australian production of WE WILL ROCK YOU, and have since performed in the show all around the world because they are two of the top guitarists in the world.
These musicians will work alongside Gareth Keegan (Galileo), Erin Clare (Scaramouche), Thern Reynolds (Brit), Jaz Flowers (Oz), Simon Russell (Khashoggi), Brian Mannix (Buddy), Casey Donovan (Killer Queen) and a large secondary cast.
We Will Rock You will kick-off at the Sydney Lyric Theatre on April 28th 2016. It will then be headed to the QPAC Lyric Theatre on July 10th. Subsequent shows at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne, the Crown Theatre in Perth and Festival Theatre in Adelaide are also ahead.
