Destructible FPS PETAFAB: Bot Invasion Out Now On Steam For PC

PETAFAB: Bot Invasion is all about tearing things down. The first-person shooter from independent developer Sebastian Aaltonen is out now on Steam for PC and macOS on Apple Silicon, priced at $9.99, £8.19, €9.69 or your local equivalent.

The game is set inside the world’s largest robot-building facility, a complex that has grown to the size of a major city. After contact with the AI running the facility is lost, special forces recruit three heroes to get inside and take down its rogue robot population. Players fight through large swarms of AI-controlled bots and giant mechanical bosses, causing as much damage as possible along the way.

Destruction is central to the game. Every environment is fully destructible thanks to physics simulation, so walls, structures and surroundings can all be blown apart, and entire levels can end up as rubble. The game runs on a custom-built engine that uses distance-field ray tracing, mesh shaders and fluid and matter simulation to handle destruction on this scale, and is designed for smooth, high-resolution play on both Windows and macOS.

Sebastian Aaltonen said the game was inspired by the large-scale destruction found in games and action films.

PETAFAB: Bot Invasion is our homage to the kind of large-scale destruction that makes games and explosive action films so exciting. We wanted to capture that feeling of being in the middle of absolute chaos, where walls crumble, robots swarm from every direction and the entire environment becomes part of the action. It’s all about giving players the tools to create their own spectacular moments of destruction.
