Maxwell the dog has made the jump to Nintendo Switch. Goodboy Galaxy, a Kickstarter-backed sci-fi platformer, launched on Switch on 30 October 2026, published by Reef Entertainment. It is available digitally worldwide on the Nintendo eShop, with physical copies sold through selected retailers in the UK, EU, US and Canada.
The game follows Maxwell, a kind-hearted dog whose homeworld is on the verge of collapse. In a desperate bid to find help, he hyperjumps into the unknown, only to end up stranded on the edge of a hostile star system. With no clear way home, he will need every friend and every weapon he can find.
Players explore levels with multiple routes, hidden areas and a range of boss battles, and can upgrade Maxwell’s blaster with special abilities. There are more than 50 friends to make along the way, each with a friendship card to collect. The Switch version also adds two exclusive extras: a local couch co-op mode for two players and Chapter Zero, a bonus prequel chapter.
Goodboy Galaxy was created by Rik Nicol and Jeremy Clarke, who met while working at a mobile games studio in the Netherlands. The pair have since joined the Reef Creative Group and now work as an independent team within the group’s in-house developer, Bitmap Bureau, the studio behind Terminator 2D: NO FATE. In a statement, Rik and Jeremy thanked the Kickstarter backers who supported the game and welcomed players who are new to it.
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who backed us on Kickstarter. Getting to release Goodboy Galaxy on Switch is a dream come true, and we couldn’t have done it without all of you sticking with us on this journey. And to those jumping on the spaceship with Max for the first time: we hope you enjoy the ride!
UK and EU customers who buy the Standard Edition from the Bitmap Bureau Online Shop will also receive an exclusive arcade token, joining the tokens previously offered with Terminator 2D: NO FATE and Xeno Crisis.
