While it has been many, many years since Dokapon Kingdom first began ending friendships with its board game x RPG mechanics, a sequel is finally on the way. Idea Factory International has announced Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2, a direct sequel to Dokapon Kingdom: Connect, launching on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam in Summer 2027 with a simultaneous worldwide release.
Developed by Compile Heart and STING, the game keeps the series’ mix of role-playing adventure and tabletop party game. Players move around a board with a flick of the spinner, and a single lucky turn can be enough to pull ahead of everyone else, or to land in risky territory. It can be played solo, with up to four players in local co-op, or with two to four players online.
The sequel adds more character customisation options than before, as well as a new mode where every player starts at a high level with powerful equipment. There are more than 10 job classes to choose from, including familiar options such as Warrior, Magician and Thief. Players can master these or meet certain conditions during a playthrough to unlock new jobs, some of which are said to grant power from the gods. Large-scale cooperative battles are also part of the package. These can deliver a big haul of rewards, but players decide whether to split the spoils fairly or try to keep everything for themselves.
