Ahead of the game’s 13 August 2026 release date, PQube have commenced digital pre-orders for Panzer Knights: Commander’s Edition on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a 20% discount to boot. On PlayStation 5, the discount is tied to PlayStation Plus membership. A physical PlayStation 5 edition is also available to pre-order.
The game casts players as the commander of a German Panzer platoon during World War II, pairing hardcore strategy mechanics with anime-inspired visuals. Combat plays out from a third-person perspective and asks players to load specialised ammunition, aim for enemy weak points, and call in tactical support as battlefield conditions shift.
The campaign covers the European theatre, running from the Battle of France through to Operation Barbarossa. Players push through defensive lines, capture objectives, and hold position against counterattacks. Bonus missions sit outside the main campaign as an optional challenge, awarding resources that feed back into crew and garage upgrades, while a customisable skirmish mode offers a more immediate route into combat.
Moment-to-moment engagements involve managing the tank’s vital systems, using terrain for cover, deploying smoke screens, requesting air support, and adjusting platoon formation in real time. Between deployments, players return to camp to recruit from a pool of 30 original characters. Crew members can be levelled up, have their backstories uncovered, and be fitted with different loadouts to change how the platoon performs in the field.
The garage handles vehicles. Tanks can be purchased to expand the roster, with options ranging from the lighter Panzer III to the heavier Tiger I. Each vehicle carries its own stats, armour profile, and camouflage pattern. A set of bonus tanks is included with the game. On the Allied side these are the M4-748 Sherman, M26 Pershing, Churchill VII, and Valentine XI. The Axis additions are the long-range Elefant and the super-heavy Panzer VIII Maus.
